Throughout the entire thirteen years of my picture of the week run, only twice did I use a vertical image. Quite simply, horizontal photographs filled the space on the page better. So, these two shots are unique in that I liked them enough to cross my own lines and choose a vertical shot. The two are significantly different though. One is active and colorful. The other is quiet and contemplative. They were chosen a little over a year apart early on in the program.

The file image dimensions on all of the photos throughout these galleries is 800x600 pixels. Or 600x800 on this page. The displayed sizes are usually reduced a little to fit better with the least scrolling. If you right click to "save as," the picture saved is the 800 dimension. If you have a need for the original size just email me and request it. Or, if you live locally, you can bring in a USB thumb drive to copy it from my inventory (call me to arrange a time). If you display my work elsewhere please be sure to acknowledge it as "courtesy of www.wsharing.com."  click here for details

I decided to lay out this page more like the Poetry & Pictures area of my website. The "Thirteen Is The Key" poem was chosen since the number 13 is quite prevalent in this wow section, and it would give me the opportunity to explain that I see thirteen as a positive spiritual number. We are usually taught it is something relating to bad luck.

There is an historical event reference from some of the darker times in Christianity that the belief stems from. However, I like to ask people how many apostles were in the group Jesus led? Most know that there were twelve. Then I ask, if you add Jesus as the leader of that special group, what is the total number in the group?

Being part Cherokee, I pay attention to the fact there are thirteen moons in the Native American calendar designating a year. It seems to me that shows 13 to be a number representing wholeness, or completion.

I do not get all that involved in numbers as some do. But knowing the number seven is considered sacred by the Cherokee, often makes a decision easier. Thirteen grants a similar benefit in any choices lacking other criteria. "Thirteen is the key for me."
